Job Title: Transmission Capacity Management Expert

Report to: Transmission Network Manager
Main Job Purpose:
The primary objective of this role is to lead, supervise, and provide second-line support for
NEC/Transmission Network operations, focusing on all optical transmission services, including SDH,
WDM, and NGWDM. This role involves escalating complex transmission network issues to vendors as
per assigned contracts and executing all necessary operational tasks, such as configuration changes,
and software and hardware upgrades, within the optical transmission network (MW, SDH, WDM).
Duties & responsibilities:
1. Oversee all-optical network elements, ensuring corrective maintenance 24/7 and providing oncall support.
2. Manage the execution of acceptance tests for all optical transmission systems and provide
recommendations.
3. Handle the integration, configuration, and extensive testing of new services and nodes for MW,
WDN, and SDH.
4. Analyze operational KPI reports, audit and verify documentation, and troubleshoot faults to
propose network optimization solutions.
5. Oversee the installation of new line boards and hardware in the transmission network, including
commissioning optical power on each amplifier.
6. Regularly check MW performance, configure SNCP services, and reroute or switch services in
emergency cases.
7. Continuously update and provide feedback on the status of MW and optical network inventory
and performance to relevant departments.
8. Monitor environmental status and memory utilization of equipment, taking necessary actions as
needed.
9. Perform regular maintenance and network health checks, addressing all issues based on health
report results.
10. Analyze transmission network utilization reports and make decisions regarding working capacity
and connectivity thresholds.
11.Manage service contracts and spare parts systems with equipment vendors.
12. Escalate complex network issues to vendors, communicate and deploy recommended solutions,
and discuss RCA and deliverables reports.
13.Monitor system performance through management systems, tuning parameters to ensure smooth
operation of service platforms.
14.Coordinate and support concerned departments to ensure proper application of ongoing
projects.
15.Define high-level designs for new solutions introduced to the MW and optical backbone network
in collaboration with relevant teams.
16. Assist the planning team in performing network expansions based on utilization and marketing
forecasts.
17. Handle service requests within SLA, dealing with customers and GTAC.
18. Handle various software efficiently and demonstrate fast learning capabilities.
19. Support new projects, network expansion, patch downloads, system software/hardware
upgrades, spare parts management, and PAT, ensuring all documentation is updated.

Technical Competencies
1. Transmission Networks Expertise: Extensive experience with MW, WDM, and SDH, particularly
with Huawei NEs.
2. Proficiency with Tools and Test Equipment: Familiar with the usage and requirements of test
equipment, both local and remote NMS, and can manipulate them as needed.
3. RTN, SDH, and WDM Network Expertise: Deep knowledge and experience in analyzing RTN,
SDH, and WDM network KPIs.
4. Project Management Skills: Competent in managing projects, ensuring they are completed on
time and within scope.
5. Background in MW and Optical Networks: Solid understanding of MW and optical network
series, software issues, and the processes for upgrading and downgrading MW-RTN, SDH, and
DWDM equipment.
6. Network Optimization and Troubleshooting: In-depth knowledge of MW-RTN, SDH, and DWDM
networks, including power budget commissioning, network optimization, emergency rerouting
services, and troubleshooting MW network performance using NMS and local navigators.
Job Requirements (Education, Training or certificates, Experience, Language):
▪ Education: Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunication, electronic, electrical engineering, or
related field.
▪ Training or Certificates: A professional Transmission system Certificate is considered
▪ Experience: 6 – 8 years of experience Telecommunications field. | At least 6 years working with
Huawei Transmission equipment’s MW -RTN, SDH, and DWDM products as Second-line or thirdline support.
▪ Languages: Fluent in English/Arabic (Written& Spoken)
